Pandemic Ponderings

Pandemic Ponderings

I’m sure next year we’ll have names and diagnoses for some of these things….however the level of anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and anger that has been expressed over the past few months definitely has had an effect on all of us.

There are different symptoms that I’m hearing about.

Some people have noticed that they are just having a hard time feeling comfortable in public spaces.  Most note that it’s hard to get used to wearing the face coverings.  Many people are describing symptoms of depression and grief.   Some are grieving the loss of friends or family to COVID 19 and some are are grieving the loss of jobs and careers due to the pandemic.  Another loss may be the “former way” of doing things.

As humans we don’t like radical changes.  We like doing things “the same as usual”.  We’ve witnessed more change in the past 3 months than some have seen in a lifetime, and things are still changing….

Just know that if you are feeling more_______________, you are not alone! Fill in the blank, but the most common answer is anxious, followed closely by “emotional”.

Just know that it will take a while to readjust to our new normal, and that having a space for open dialogue is always helpful.
